Sent to Camp Douglas, Illinois. The brothers bribe their way out, and eventually end up in Wisconsin, to start new lives. With help from their uncle, the boys open up a tavern/casino/cathouse in Dundee, Wisconsin. Their lives begin to change in a big way, with help from some notorious outlaws.

Highly enlightening information on POW camps in the North, even though written as a novel. Pulled heavily from historical information. Compelling storyline for the Southern brothers who stand together through multiple life obstacles. And an overall allegory of the American Dream. That is, even during the Civil War, these guys made their dreams come true under the toughest of circumstances. Bonding together just as the nation had to, in order to be better.
A quick read and an interesting Twist on a common plot... I enjoyed it immensely
